Four protections working at the same time.
No algorithm, no autoplay
There is no recommendation feed and no 'up next'. Playback stops when a video ends, so a child can never drift from one clip into content nobody approved.
Explicit parent opt-in
Nothing reaches your child's library until you watch it and accept it. The library is finite and closed — no search bar, no explore tab, no comments.
Remote parent controls
Pause the TV or tablet instantly from your own phone, set daily time limits, and schedule blackout locks around prayer, school, and bedtime.
Custom family rules
Lock the library to a language, block background music, and align results with your family's moral and religious values. Every AI search is filtered against those rules first.
What happens between your request and your child's screen
You describe what you want
Send the curator a plain-language request from your phone — for example, 'Arabic stories about the Prophets for a 5-year-old, no music'.
The AI filters before you see anything
The curator searches YouTube and other public sources, then removes anything that breaks your language, music, age, or values rules.
You approve each video
You get a short list, not a feed. Watch, accept or reject. Only accepted videos enter the library your child can open.
You stay in control while it plays
Pause remotely, enforce time limits, or lock the app entirely. Remove any video from the library at any moment.
Safety tips for parents
Set the rules before the first search
Language lock, no-music, age band, and values filters take one minute to configure and apply to every future search. Parents who set them first almost never need to reject results.
Use blackouts instead of arguments
Schedule locks around salah, homework, meals, and bedtime. The app closes on its own, so the boundary is the schedule rather than a nightly negotiation.
Review the library weekly
Approved libraries grow fast. A quick weekly pass to retire videos your child has outgrown keeps screen time intentional.
Watch together when a topic is new
For faith, science, or emotional topics, the first viewing is a good conversation. The curator can then find more in the same direction.
Report content or a concern
If a video slipped through a filter, or you have a child-safety concern, email safety@safestream.app with the video title or link. We review safety reports first, ahead of every other request.
