Who we are
SafeStream is a family video service operated by SafeStream LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Qatar. It lets a parent describe what their child should watch, uses an AI curator to find matching videos, and shows a child only the videos that parent has approved.
The controller of your personal information is SafeStream LLC — that is, SafeStream LLC decides why and how your information is processed when you use the service, and is responsible for it under the laws of the State of Qatar.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what control you have over it.
Information we collect
Account information: the email address you provide when you request access or create an account, and any name you choose to add.
Family settings: the rules you configure — languages, age range, whether music is allowed, faith or values preferences, time limits and blackout periods.
Curation activity: the requests you send to the AI curator, the videos it returns, and which of those you approve or reject.
Viewing activity: which approved videos were played, and when, so parent controls such as time limits and remote pause can work.
Technical information: device type, browser, approximate region derived from IP address, and error logs needed to keep the service running.
Children's information
SafeStream is designed to be set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. We do not ask children to create accounts, provide an email address, or enter personal details.
A child profile holds only what is needed to deliver the approved library: a display name or nickname chosen by the parent, an age band, and playback history within that profile.
We do not build advertising profiles of children, and we do not sell or share children's information for advertising.
How we use information — and our legal basis
To run the service: authenticate parents, apply your family rules, deliver approved videos and enforce time limits. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
To operate the AI curator: your written request and your family rules are used to search for and rank candidate videos. Results are returned to you for approval — nothing reaches a child profile without a parent approving it. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
To communicate with you: service messages, trial and billing notices, and — only if you opt in — product updates. Legal basis: performing our contract with you for service messages; your consent for optional marketing, which you can withdraw at any time.
To improve reliability and safety: diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and improve how well curation matches the rules parents set. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working well, balanced against your rights.
Third-party video sources
The AI curator searches public video platforms, including YouTube, to find candidate videos. When you play a video sourced from such a platform, that platform may receive technical information such as your IP address and device type, and its own terms and privacy policy apply to that playback.
We do not send your family rules, your child's name, or your account details to those platforms.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to host our database, send email and run the AI models behind the curator. They may process information only to provide those services to us, under contract, and may not use it for their own purposes.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle processes payment information directly to complete the sale, manage subscriptions, handle tax compliance and invoicing, and provide order-related customer service and returns. We receive only a transaction reference and your plan status from Paddle — never your card details.
Retention
We keep account and family-settings information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise the associated personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep records longer to meet legal, tax or fraud-prevention obligations.
Curation and viewing history can be cleared from your parent dashboard at any time.
Your choices
You can review, correct or delete your account information and your child profiles from the parent dashboard, or by contacting us.
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about your family, or ask us to delete it.
You can unsubscribe from product emails at any time using the link in the email; service and billing messages will continue while your account is open.
Security
Information is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored in access-controlled systems. Access is limited to the people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected users where a breach is likely to put them at risk.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change significantly affects you, notify you by email.
